Overview of the Public Space Surveillance CCTV licence

The Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) license, issued by the SIA, is crucial for individuals who operate CCTV systems in public areas to ensure safety and prevent crime. To obtain this license, applicants must complete comprehensive training that covers legal responsibilities, ethical use of surveillance, and practical skills for effective CCTV operation, including incident and emergency management. The training also emphasizes compliance with laws like the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights Act, ensuring that operators respect privacy rights while performing their duties. This license ensures that CCTV operators are well-equipped to manage surveillance systems responsibly and legally in public spaces.
