These courses typically cover topics such as health and safety, first aid, communication skills, conflict resolution, and legislation relevant to the security industry. Completion of an SIA course is a requirement for obtaining an SIA licence, which is necessary for working in certain roles within the private security industry in the UK.

How to book an SIA Course?

To book an SIA course, you can do the following:

  1. Search for training providers in your area: You can search online for training providers that offer SIA courses in your area.

  2. Contact the training provider: Once you have found a training provider that you would like to book a course with, you can contact them directly to inquire about availability and to book a place on a course. You may be able to book a course online through the provider’s website, or you may need to contact them by phone or email to make a booking.

  3. Register for the course: To register for an SIA course, you may need to provide some personal and contact information, as well as proof of identity. You will also need to pay a course fee at this time.

  4. Attend the course: Once you have registered for an SIA course, you will need to attend the course at the designated time and location. You will need to bring any necessary materials or equipment with you, and you need to complete some pre-course reading or assignments before the course begins.

It is important to note that SIA courses can vary in length and content, so it is a good idea to research the specific requirements and expectations of the course you are interested in before booking.

How much is an SIA Course?

The cost of an SIA course can vary depending on the training provider and the specific course you are taking. In general, SIA courses can cost anywhere from a few hundred pounds for the SIA door supervisor course to over a thousand pounds for an SIA Instructor Course.

Factors that can affect the cost of an SIA course include the length of the course, the level of training and qualification being offered, and the location of the course. For example, a short, introductory course may be less expensive than a longer, more comprehensive course that leads to a higher level of qualification.

To get an SIA licence in the UK, you will need to complete an SIA-approved training course that meets the specific requirements for the type of licence you are seeking. There are several types of SIA licenses available, each of which has its own specific training requirements:

  1. Door supervisor licence: This license allows you to work as a door supervisor in venues such as pubs, clubs, and other licensed premises. To get a door supervisor license, you will need to complete the Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry.

  2. Security guard license: This license allows you to work as a security guard in a variety of settings, including retail stores, office buildings, and event venues. To get a security guard license, you will need to complete the Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry.

  3. CCTV Operator Licence: The level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry is a basic course that covers the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to work as a CCTV operator.

Before you start your application, please make sure:

  • you have all the information you need for SIA checks
  • you are likely to pass the checks (for example – you have the right qualification)

The specific exam questions for an SIA course will depend on the specific course you are taking and the topics covered in that course. However, SIA courses generally cover a range of topics related to the private security industry, including health and safety, first aid, communication skills, conflict resolution, and legislation relevant to the security industry.

Some examples of exam questions that might be covered on an SIA course exam include:

  1. What are the key responsibilities of a door supervisor?
  2. How can you effectively communicate with members of the public while on duty?
  3. What are the steps you should take in the event of a fire or other emergency?
  4. How do you respond to a situation in which a member of the public becomes violent or aggressive?
  5. What are the legal requirements for conducting searches and using force while on duty?

It is important to note that SIA courses are designed to test your knowledge and understanding of the material covered in the course, so exam questions may be multiple choice, short answer, or essay format, depending on the course and the specific exam being administered.
