The Diploma in Education and Training (DET) course is for those carrying out a teaching role and who need to gain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
This qualification is equivalent to the Certificate in Education within the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ). The qualification can lead to Qualified Teacher of Learning and Skills (QTLS) status once combined with continuing professional development and a period of professional formation. It is a Level 5 award with 120 credits.
The Diploma comprises Part 1 and Part 2 and there is a requirement for a minimum of 100 hours of teaching.

What You Will Study?
- To achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, candidates must achieve a minimum of 120 credits
- 75 credits must be achieved from the mandatory units in group A, plus a minimum of 45 credits from optional units in group B
- A minimum of 61 credits must be at Level 5 (therefore a minimum of 6 optional credits must be achieved at level 5)
- To achieve the qualification, there is a requirement for your teaching practice to be observed and assessed on performance

- Developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training –20 credits
- Theories, principles and models in education and training – 20 credits
- Wider professional practice and development in education and training –20 credits

What ID documents do I have to bring along?
It is a regulatory requirement to do an identity check for all security-related qualifications. Therefore, candidates who are attending Licence linked course are requested to provide the following upon arrival;
- 1 passport size photo
- Original passport of any nationality or UK photo Drivers Licence
