Top-up training is a compulsory 2 day additional training in order to renew your SIA license. SIA is changing the way that Security Guard and Door Supervisor Licenses are renewed from the 1st of October. This new SIA Top Up Training will up skill door supervisors to the level attained by those who took a course and qualification after August 2015.

SIA Top Up Training course London, it is compulsory from 1 October 2021, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) is changing the way that Security Guard (SG) and Door Supervisor (DS) licenses are renewed. From this date, to renew your licence you must complete additional training, called ‘Top-Up’ training / “Top Up Door Supervisor Refresher”.

Why do I need the SIA Top Up Training Course London for Door Supervisor License ?
It will be compulsory to complete the Top Up Door Supervisor training to renew your license. On 1 April 2021, the SIA introduced new critical safety elements to their licence holder qualifications.
This Top Up Door Supervisor Training is To ensure that current Door Supervisor and Security Guard licence holders have the same level qualification as those who are newly qualified, the SIA has developed top-up training. Top-up Door Supervisor training will align the skills of those renewing licences with new licence holders since 1 April 2021, when the standards changed.
Do I need SIA Top-up training course for a Security Guard licence as well?
Yes, you will need an SIA Top Up Training if you currently hold an Security Guard licence, which means you will need to attend top-up training. From 1 October 2021, you must have one of the following before you can apply for, or renew your licence:
- One of the new SIA Qualifications set in place in April 2021.
- Or, one of the older licence-linked qualifications, a valid First-Aid certificate, and a Top-Up qualification.
What will the SIA top-up training course include?
Security Guard licence holders will be required to undertake an additional one day of top-up training.
This Top Up training will include Terror Threat Awareness and Minimising Personal Risk for Security Officers. Part of the SIA changes also require licence holders to have a Emergency First Aid Certificate. Before renewing your licence, you must either prove you have a minimum of 12 months before expiry on any current first aid certificate or you must attend an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification or equivalent, before attending any top-up training.

Who is this Top Up Course for?
- This Top Up Training Course is for individuals who currently have an SIA Door Supervisor Licence or a Security guard license and they wish to renew their SIA License.
How can I book and pay for the course?

When will I receive my examination result?
Results are published online within 10-14 working days after your examination date. You will be notified by SMS and email when they are ready to view – in the rare case your results are delayed, we will always keep you informed.
When will I receive my certificate?
Certificates are usually dispatched 7 days after successful course completion. Please contact us – if it has been over 14 days so we can verify your address and arrange for a replacement.
Please note, you don’t need a certificate to apply for your SIA Licence.
I want to renew my License as a Security Guard, is this course right for me?
Yes, you would need an SIA Top Up Training to renew your Door Supervisor Licence to allows you to work as a Security Guard and a Door Supervisor.
That means – you can work in retail security, nightclubs and events with a Door Supervisor Licence.
What ID documents do I have to bring along?
It is a regulatory requirement to do an identity check for all security-related qualifications. Therefore, candidates who are attending Licence linked course are requested to provide the following upon arrival;
- Two passport size photos
- Original passport of any nationality or UK photo Drivers Licence
- Two forms of address proof (originals)

What if my course is cancelled?
We hate it when training providers have to cancel a course – but it can happen for reasons outside our control. If your course is cancelled – we will offer you an alternate date, if that date is not suitable, we will offer you an instant refund.
Does the course fee include the SIA Licence application fee?
The course fee does not include the licence fee. The licence application fee of £220 is payable to directly to the SIA when applying for the licence – which is valid for three years.
