A traffic marshal is the designated person who is trained and competent in safely directing moving traffic in and around large building sites. They are trained to position themselves and in the use traffic marshal banksman hand signals to instruct large vehicle and load manoeuvres when the driver or the operator of the vehicle may have a restricted view. Traffic marshals help to prevent accidents from happening on a building site or loading bay.

Our traffic marshalling teams:

  • maintain a visual presence at site boundaries to meet vehicles and ensure safety of pedestrians
  • enforce agreed delivery schedules
  • maintain and adapt pedestrian barriers, signs and safe walkways
  • record vehicle arrival and departure time and calculate the deliveries carbon footprint
  • ensure all delivery drivers are familiarised with site rules
  • direct delivery drivers to correct unloading bays
  • ensure gates are closed at all times and manned during all working hours
  • manage transition of delivery vehicles safely crossing pedestrian footpaths making due allowance for signage
