Renewing your SIA Licence is compulsory to maintain your eligibility for working in the private security industry in the UK. Before applying for renewal, individuals must complete the SIA Top Up Training and First Aid Course. The SIA requires the licence to be renewed every three years to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, which includes completing additional training and passing a criminal background check.
The Door Supervisor Top Up Training is a two-day course, while the Security Guard Top Up is a one-day course. You need to book the appropriate course based on the type of licence you hold. It is possible to switch from a Door Supervisor licence to a Security Guard licence, but upgrading from a Security Guard licence to a Door Supervisor licence requires completing the full Door Supervisor course again.
Upon completion and successful passing of the course, your certificate information will be uploaded to the SIA portal, allowing you to apply for your SIA Licence renewal through your SIA account without having to wait for the certificate.
You must also complete an emergency first aid course to apply for your SIA renewal.
